Umm really silly question about the toyota aurion handbrake?? Please help!?

So I've been given a loan car by the car dealership I purchased my new kia from, and it's a Toyota Aurion 2010. Anyway, my mum drove it home and I remember the salesperson saying something about having to press the break in some way to release and activate the handbrake? Mums gone to the shops and no ones home and I have to run some errands but I can't start the bloody thing! Well, I can, I just don't know how to release the handbrake! Please help! Thanks
