Becoming a car saleman?

okay so my dad is part owner of two car dealerships that are doing very well. I would like to get into the business, I am only 16 but i have been around many types of cars my whole life. I can name almost any car on the road, How can i become a salesperson? I am very personable, and people tend to like to tell me their life story if im standing in line somewhere. I am not very talkative, but i can be. What is a key element of being a car salesperson?
