My mazda familia is using up petrol way too much?

I have a Mazda familia 1999 model and recently when i drive it the petrol gets used up really quick! i can literally see the needle go down. i only drive maybe maximum 3 km and i end up in empty. i jus servied the car and have changed my air filter . please help :(
