Promise ring coming my way?

Me and my bf have been dating for 4 months now and both of us want to get married one day but not anytime soon! I went to the mall with his sister and we stopped at a jewelery store and just looked around. She ended up pulling a salesperson to the side and talked to him in private... After that we were standing in front of rings and she had this aweful excuse that she was helping her brothers best friend find a ring for his girlfriend... So she asked me what I would like and so on ... The salesperson measured my finger and all and also asked me what I would like! All sounded very weird to me since I have never met the girl we were looking at rings for! Apparently it was not an engagement ring , just a ring for a special occasion! Now I am wondering if my bf told his sister to take me there so he could have an idea of what I liked , but I'm not sure! What do y'all think? am I just imagining this or could there really be a ring ( not engagement... Cause I'm not ready for that) coming at me?
